The haunting cry of the fish eagle echoes through the rugged krantzes, and the veld grass whispers with the roaming of Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo, Cheetah, Giraffe, Zebra and numerous other antelope. At Amakhala you can experience the delights of the African bushveld while on safari, bushwalk, river cruise or simply with a glass of wine from the veranda of your lodge. Here you will also experience the warm hospitality of the settler family descendents who run The Heritage Collection of Lodges, and you may discover some of our little "secrets"; like the prehistoric bushman burial ground, or the site of Africa's most ancient dinosaur fossil finds. Leeuwenbosch Country House: Individual in their style, Leeuwenbosch consists of 9 graciously decorated en-suite rooms, four luxury suites and five double rooms. The 1908 Colonial Country House is set amidst beautiful indigenous gardens and is an ideal environment to reflect on the wonder wildlife experience. Shearers Lodge has been beautifully converted into a contemporary game lodge and both have been awarded 4 star grading. Children Welcome, Childrens Programme Available. Bush Lodge: Situated in the bush, at the top end of an open valley in the reserve, Reed Valley's Bush Lodge luxury tents, overlook a watering point with big sky views. Each suite has a secluded private viewing deck with intimate plunge pool. Within the spacious interior hot and cold air conditioning, an atmospheric fire place, large oval bath and romantic alfresco double showers make this a perfect 5 star bush retreat. Children 12 years and over welcome. Reed Valley Inn: Historic buildings that once provided rest and safe haven for the Mail Wagon travelers is positioned in the farmyard and provides privacy and warm hospitality. The four historic en-suite country rooms, each have a separate entrance onto a private patio and tea & coffee stations. A large swimming pool provides a welcome relief to the warm summer days. Graded 4 star. Children 12 years and over welcome. The Safari Lodge: The stylish Safari Lodge is secretly hidden in the indigenous bush. It is a romantic thatched lodge with luxury safari huts inspired by African tribal design. Each lodge is complete with a private plunge pool and small lounge area. Large beds are draped with mosquito nets, sparkling wine on ice alongside a double bath filled with aromatherapy scented bubbles make this a favorite for honeymooners and the romantic at heart. Awarded 5 star grading. Children 9 years and over welcome. Woodbury Lodge: Guests are accommodated in 6 comfortably appointed stone-and-thatch sleeping lodges, each with air-conditioning and en-suite bathroom. The seclusion of the lodges and the design of the bathrooms and individual outdoor relaxation areas enable our visitors to enjoy the unique and breathtaking views at their leisure. Guests are often thrilled by the late afternoon sighting of the elephant herd passing by. Graded 4 star. Children Welcome
